Where the Money Goes
K9 Costs
Since inception, Chesapeake K-9 Fund has raised tens of thousands of dollars through organic fundraising efforts, including prominent community sponsors, events including a 5K race, and individual donors. These funds are already working hard to support K9s in Maryland.
We purchase and supply K9s and equipment directly to each law enforcement agency recipient.
- Below is an example of average costs for ONE K9:
- “Green” untrained 1-year-old K-9: $6500
- Trained K-9 certified in narcotics, explosives or search and rescue:
- $8000 Heat sensor alarm and installation
- $1600 Cage for patrol car, plus installation $2000
- Protective vest: $1200.
